Fitness Routine - Update!

Hi loves! I have not posted a Fitness Friday in forever and I wanted to update you on what I have been doing lately fitness-wise! I am thinking about starting Fitness Friday back up again really soon! Basically, we have had winter for 6 months. Yes, it's slightly depressing. It is finally starting to warm up (when I say warm up, I mean 40 degrees). I did not really workout too much for awhile. For some reason, it is not just the bears that go into hibernation. I literally did too. It is just way too cold to work out in 10 degree weather. Even in the house, it is still not like summer. I actually just started getting back into working out again in the past three weeks. I really miss working out, so I am really excited to start back up again.

Story time: I went a walk for the first time since last fall. There was still snow on the ground, but I don't care anymore! I am trying to will away the cold weather! Anyways, we were walking... we start walking towards this bend that is always, in my opinion, really sketchy. Once you round this bend there is a campsite and the river. I am always afraid there will be wild animals in this particular area. So we're walking and I notice something in the snow. My first thought was that it was an animal, but I told myself that we were still far away enough that I could be wrong. It could just be a rock- no big deal. We get closer and it starts to roll around. Next thing you know, we are running for our lives. I could not quite make out which type of animal it was, but who I was with thought it was either a mountain lion, wolf, or large fox. Either way, super scary!!! Part of me thought it was that darn evil fox that is out to get us (the one mentioned in other Fitness Friday posts). But, that fox was not as large as this animal.

So, the saga continues... I always have stories to tell from my walks. Somehow I haven't been scared away from them yet! All in all, I am just starting to workout out and get on a schedule. My schedule will mellow out this next month, so I will have the opportunity to be more consistent. Once that happens, I will definitely be able to post about my fitness and start Fitness Friday again!

Updated 2016 Goals

Hi loves! I did a post back in January where I talked about my goals for 2016. Since then they have definitely changed...partly because I was sick for a month out of this year, so learning how to ski, snowboard, and Nordic ski has pretty much been nixed.

I am still going to try and snowshoe for the first time. I just need to call tomorrow to make sure they still have enough snow!

If you want to see my full original list of goals, you can check it out here. This is my updated list!

Goal #1: Stick to a blogging schedule - Post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!

Goal #2: Re-install Rosetta Stone French and practice at least 2 days/wk.

Goal #3: Read 2 books a month.

Goal #4: Master 2 new accents and 2 new musical impressions a month.

Goal #5: Do my singing warm-up 5 days/wk.

Goal #6: Play guitar at least 2 days/wk.

A Star is Found - Book Review

I have a slight (or not-so-slight) addition to reading books! I recently finished A Star is Found: Our Adventures Casting Some of Hollywood's Biggest Movies by Janet Hirshenson and Jane Jenkins with Rachel Kranz.

I ABSOLUTELY love this book! It is one of my favorite books of all time. You need to read this if you are an aspiring actor/actress or if you love movies.

A Star is Found details the casting process of some of the most famous movies in Hollywood, such as A Beautiful Mind, Friday Night Lights, Something's Gotta Give, A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally, Mystic Pizza, and Jurassic Park. There are so many interesting stories!!

For instance, Tom Felton was originally considered for the part of Harry in Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone. There were four boys at the end that were considered for Harry. Once they narrowed it down, there was a split decision between Daniel Radcliffe and another boy. If it wasn't for Janet changing her mind and wanting Daniel, he may not have gotten the part.

Another interesting fact is that Graham in The Holiday was originally written for Hugh Grant. I understand the thought process, however, I just cannot imagine Graham played by anyone other than Jude Law!! When Hugh Grant turned down the part, they began auditioning actors. Some actors that auditioned for the part were Robert Downey Jr., Colin Firth, Josh Lucas, and Aaron Eckhart. All fantastic actors...but the movie just would not have been the same!

Casting is so important. It is probably one of the most important parts of making a movie. The process is absolutely intriguing! Without a doubt, I recommend this book! It is fabulous! I just finished this book, but I may just read it again. It is that good.

Have you read this book? Will you read it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Korres Papaya Mango Shower Gel Review

The Korres Papaya Mango Shower Gel is a good shower gel. I definitely liked it, but I would not say that it's my favorite. I found that it works really well when shaving.

This shower gel claims to provide lasting moisture and to help maintain the natural moisture level of the skin. I would not say that it is moisturizing, however I would not say that it is drying either. My skin stayed normal. This is why it is not my absolute favorite. It is not as moisturizing as I would like it to be. One thing that I really enjoy about this shower gel is that it smells great!! It definitely smells like real papaya's and mango's!

90.2% of this shower gel contains natural contents. There is no mineral oil, petrolatum, silicones, parabens, proplylene glycol, ethanolamines, PEG, ALES, synthetic dyes, phthalates, polycyclic musks, retinol, or animal by-products. It is pH-neutral. It does contain SLES, wheat, and nuts.

Overall, I do not regret the purchase of this shower gel. It is really good, however I just would have preferred a more moisturizing formula.

Real Talk: The BEST Deodorant Ever!

I have tried sooo many deodorants... the amount of money spent on trying them all is scary. None of them have really worked for me. I have tried scented, non-scented, sport, stick, roll-on, etc. I have tried natural and not natural at all. I have even tried one that has natural mineral salts in it. Some of them did absolutely nothing or I had to re-apply way too many times. Others curdled up into white balls (ew!) or left white marks. I could go on, but I think you get the picture.

Kiss My Face Natural Active Life Deodorant Stick Sport is HEAVEN. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this deodorant. This is literally the only one I will use for the rest of my life. No joke. I apply it once and I have NO problems for the rest of the day! What a revelation!

It is aluminum, paraben, and cruelty free. There are no phthalates, SLS, artificial fragrances, or artificial flavors. The ingredients are gluten free and vegan friendly. It is not tested on animals. This deodorant has botanicals in it, as well as odor absorbing ingredients. It contains aloe vera, grapefruit, rosemary, sage, thyme, green tea, and witch hazel.

I absolutely love this deodorant. Once you try it, you will never go back!

Nature's Gate Herbal Daily Cleansing Shampoo Review

I was really excited to try out Nature's Gate Herbal Daily Cleansing Shampoo. It is vegan, non-GMO, paraben free, sulfate free, soy free, and cruelty free. Its ingredients include sage, lavender, rosemary, thyme, Borage Flower Seed Oil, soy proteins, vegetable proteins, Jojoba Oil, vitamin c, vitamin E, and vitman B5.  It sounds great so far, doesn't it?

This shampoo is said to gently cleanse, revitalize, soothe, purify, and strengthen hair. It is also said to leave hair soft, add shine, and promote a healthy scalp. It is ideal for normal hair.

After testing out this shampoo, I am definitely not a fan! It left my hair greasy- not as greasy, but still greasy nonetheless. My hair had no volume and was matted down. Since I have oily hair and it is said to be for people with normal hair, I had my mom test it out as well. She has dry hair and she did not like it either! It made her hair limp. Maybe if you have completely normal hair, it may work for you...

In my last post I reviewed the Jason Restorative Biotin Shampoo, which I absolutely love. Check it out here

Jason Restorative Biotin Shampoo Review

I have an obsession with finding great shampoos. It is a miracle when I find one that works for my hair! I decided to test out the Jason Restorative Biotin Shampoo and this is what I found...

This shampoo contains no parabens, SLS, petrolatum, artificial colors, or phthalates. Instead it is enriched with biotin, vitamin B5, ginseng, and lavender. It is a biodegradable formula that is made in the USA. It is not tested on animals. I like shampoos that don't include any harsh chemicals. Ingredients are really important to me. This shampoo passes the test!

The Jason Restorative Biotin Shampoo is said to strengthen and repair damaged hair. It gently cleanses, repairs split ends, and minimizes future breakage. It is also said to make your hair look healthier.

After trying out this shampoo, I am in love!! I agree with all of its claims. It does not really lather, so be aware if you haven't used a shampoo like that before. It smells really good too, which is a plus!

This shampoo did not make my hair greasy or matte it down. My hair is light and voluminous. My hair is also great on the second day, which rarely happens! Usually my hair gets extremely greasy by the second day, but this shampoo is so great that I can wear my hair up in a ponytail or in a braid!

Overall, I would definitely give this shampoo an A+.
