Smith's Rosebud Salve + More Review

I received the lovely Smith's Three Lavish Layers of Lip Balm as a gift. I remember trying the original Rosebud Salve years ago, but it has been too long to remember any of the details. All three came in a really cute gift tin that I can use to put little trinkets and such in. The gift tin includes Smith's Rosebud Salve, Minted Rose Lip Balm, and Strawberry Lip Balm.

I love all three. My favorite is definitely the Minted Rose- it smells amazing!! I am obsessed! I have used them on my lips and they are great; however, I am trying to not use any petroleum on my lips anymore. Instead I like to use them on my knuckles, which get really dry during winter. Whether you use them on your lips or on dry skin patches, these three lip balms are fantastic! If you do use them as lip balm, make sure your fingers are always clean because it can get unsanitary pretty quick.

Again, I definitely recommend these lip balms. They help keep everything moisturized and fabulous!

Hi loves! This is part two of Get the Look: Color of the Year. My first post was on Pink Quartz, which you can check out here. Pink Quartz is one color of the year. Serenity is the other. Pantone has stated that the official color of the year is the blending of both of these colors. Wearing both of these colors at the same time would be a great way to accomplish the "blending" of the two.

Pink Quartz is a popular color. Serenity is a really difficult color to find in fashion because it is so unique. Hopefully you can use some of these ideas to help inspire you to incorporate the colors of the year into your wardrobe!

Will you wear Pink Quartz and Serenity on their own, or will you "blend" the two together? Let me know in the comments below!

Grammy Awards 2016 - My Reaction

I have grown up watching the Grammys every year. I love to sing and listen to music. I really enjoyed the show this year!! There were some really amazing performances and collaborations. Overall, it was very successful!

My Favorite Performances:

Amazing, amazing singer! She was incredibly poised while working through the sound issues. On her worse day, she will still always blow most people out of the park. No complaints.... loved it!

Sam Hunt and Carrie Underwood

LOVE!!! I know she's married, but their chemistry was palpable... Incredible performance!

The Weeknd

You cannot not like this performance. "Can't Feel My Face" was fantastic!

Andra Day and Ellie Goulding

As individuals, they have incredibly unique voices. When these two sang together, it was amazing! Props to who thought of matching these two up for a duet!

Lionel Richie Medley

Yes! Just, yes!! Usually medley's and tributes get completely botched. This one was done right!! It was just fabulous!

Stevie Wonder and Pentatonix

Earth, Wind, and Fire is one of my favorite bands of all time. They did an amazing job at paying homage to them!

Tori Kelly and James Bay

Their voices made an absolutely beautiful duet!

Broadway's Hamilton

Words cannot describe how fabulous this performance was. It was so amazing that I had chills. I am in love!!!

David Bowie Tribute

Lady Gaga is truly an amazing performer. She always surprises me with her talent. She killed it, yet again.

Awards I am THRILLED About:

Record of the Year AND Best Pop Duo/Group Performance - Uptown Funk, Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

Woooo! Uptown Funk has basically only been nominated. It has not really won any awards (as unbelievable as that sounds). I am SO happy that it finally got the recognition that it deserves!!!

Song of the Year AND Best Pop Solo Performance- Thinking Out Loud, Ed Sheeran

This is one of my favorite songs! I am so happy that it won!!!

Best New Artist - Meghan Trainor

I wanted Sam Hunt to win this one, but my second choice was Meghan. I love her music and I am so happy that she won!

What was your favorite part of the Grammys? Which performances and awards were your favorite? Let me know in the comments below!

Valentine's Day Chocolate Chip and M&M Cookies!

I am absolutely addicted to chocolate chip cookies!! They are heaven! I decided to be festive and make some Valentine's Day cookies. I used the recipe on the back of the Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chip package. I cut the chocolate chips in half and added M&M's. They turned out absolutely amazing!!

2 1/4 cups unsifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 cup Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 cup Valentine's Day M&M's

Stir flour, baking soda, and salt together; set aside.

Beat butter, sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, until incorporated.

Gradually blend dry mixture into creamed mixture.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Stir in chocolate chips and M&M's.

Drop by tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown.

Aren't these cookies to die for?! Let me know if you try them and what you think in the comments below!

Valentine's Day Singles Party Guide

Some of us have boyfriends. And that's fabulous. Other's don't. If you are one of those single ladies, the best way to celebrate Valentine's Day without watching Titanic and eating an entire tub of ice cream by yourself is to THROW A PARTY!!! I'm talking about a combination between Samantha's "I don't have a baby" shower party (Love that scene) and Kara's "I hate Valentine's Day" party. Instead of wallowing, celebrate being single. I have some ideas for how you can create the most fabulous Valentine's Day Singles Party. Here they are.

Let's start out with food...

*Chocolate Bar! Make sure to have a large, large array of chocolate. Incorporate hearts into it (heart-shaped bowls, etc.)
*Appetizers! Don't do anything formal. Cheese and crackers is classic. A spin on this is to take your slices of cheese and cut out hearts with a small heart cookie cutter. Another idea is heart strawberry skewers. Take large strawberries and cut out a heart with a small heart cookie cutter. Then alternate the strawberry hearts and red grapes on your skewers! Chips and salsa is always a hit. Put the salsa in a heart bowl!

Now for drinks. My favorite drink of all time is a Shirley temple. They are perfect for Valentine's Day! Make sure to add extra maraschino cherries in each one! :D

Decorations are key...

*PIÑATA!!! There are two options. You can be like Kara in Valentine's Day and get a "I Hate Valentine's Day" piñata (like this one here) OR you can just get a heart piñata (like this one herehere, or here).
*Heart Balloons! Totally essential. Check some out here

Finally, activity ideas!!

*Go to the movies- watch How to Be Single! How can you resist this movie on V-Day?? It just seems fit.
*Watch more movies! Any Rom-Com or Romance movie will suffice! Check out my post this Friday for ideas!
*Dance Party! Because who doesn't love a good dance party??
*Play Games! Never Have I Ever is always super fun. I also love Juicy Couture Clue and Sephora Monopoly.
*Spa Night! Primping is always a fun activity! "Nails done, hair done, everything did. Oh you fancy, huh?"

Single ladies, remember to rock out to Beyonce's Single Ladies and, again, celebrate your fabulousness! What do you think about throwing a Singles Party? Will you do it? Do you have any more ideas to make it even more fantastic? Let me know in the comments below!

How to Battle a Cold "The Old-Fashioned Way"

February is said to be the peak of flu season. I am just getting over a cold, so I thought I would pass on some of my tips and tricks of battling a cold to you. I always use old-fashioned methods. Here are the ones that I use:

Stay Warm!! One of the reasons why you might have gotten sick in the first place is because you did not stay warm in the cold winter weather. Some say "sweating out" a cold is just a myth, but I definitely believe it is not! Since I was a child I have been using this method and it has always worked for me.

Take Baths with Epsom Salts!! When I am sick, I take a bath practically every day. Epsom salts flush out toxins. They have many other awesome benefits as well. They are so amazing. I swear by them! You can use regular, plain Epsom salts (I love these) OR you can use Epsom salts with some essential oils in it (I love these). There are also many other salts that you can put in your bath that provide you with great benefits. I like to use these and these. Another option is using a salt soak that is designed specifically to combat colds (here).

Rest! It is absolutely essential, but it can get quite boring when you are lying in your bed all day staring at the ceiling. If you can't seem to get to sleep, do what I do- watch movies! I like to bring all of my blankets and pillows out to the living room and watch movies all day long. I am resting, but I am keeping my mind occupied on something other than my cold!

Soup! Good Old-Fashioned Chicken Noodle Soup is the best. I prefer homemade. I use rotini pasta, chicken, organic chicken broth, and vegetables.

Mashed Potatoes! Am I the only one who loves to eat mashed potatoes when sick???

Cough Drops! I am addicted to cough drops, even when I am not sick. I love Ricola Honey Lemon with Echinacea and Halls Mentho-Lyptus Menthol Drops (the blue kind). Taking echinacea is really important when you are sick. I love how Ricola incorporated it into a cough drop. I feel like the Ricola drops really help cure my sore throat and my cold, but the Halls drops takes away any pain that I have in my throat.

Smoothies, Smoothies, Smoothies! They definitely help cure all colds. I don't know how they do it, but somehow they do. Don't question it and just drink. Again, I love homemade smoothies. That may be because I live in a small town and we don't have a place where you can buy one...O.o If you live somewhere normal- Jamba Juice. All day. Every day. My homemade smoothies consist of organic frozen mixed berries, bananas, organic apple juice, Bolthouse Farms Green Goddess juice, organic non-fat vanilla frozen yogurt, and vitamins (because I can't swallow them whole). I mix it all together in my NutriBullet!

Drink LOTS Water! Staying hydrated is always key, especially when you are "sweating it out."

Steam!! Before I go on, let me just say that I don't suggest you try this without a parent's approval if you are under 18. I have been steaming my face this way for a very long time. Not only will it help you with your cold by clearing your passageways, it also makes your skin look fabulous in the process. This is what I do: Fill up a small pot with about 1 1/2 inches of water and put it on the stove. Boil the water. Once it is boiling, take off the lid. Make sure you have a hooded robe on or a hoodie. Put the hood over your face and put your face over the boiling water. Please, do not put it close. You will be able to gauge the distance once you are doing it. Be very careful if you have a gas-burning stove. I have electric, so it is not as dangerous. You just want to steam- not burn your face off. Inhale the steam through your mouth and nose. Trust me- it helps!!

These are all of my tips to battle a cold "The Old-Fashioned Way." Do you have any tips and tricks that I did not mention in my post?? I would love to hear them! :D Let me know in the comments below!

Happy February!!

Hi loves! We are now in FEBRUARY! Where does the time go? Last month I announced that I will be blogging every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!! Make sure to subscribe so you don't miss any of my posts!

There are a lot of very interesting holidays in February. Let's start off with today... Harry Style's birthday. Let us all have a moment of silence to honor the occasion.

I am addicted to the website Holiday Insights. While I was browsing, I came across some things that I want to share with you. You may not know that this month is actually An Affair to Remember Month (so, yes, that means you can watch this movie as many times as you would like without any judgement), Creative Romance Month (whereas Dull Romance...?), and National Cherry Month.

The third week in February is International Flirting Week. Not just National- INTERnational. Cue Pitbull's International Love...

As for the daily random holidays... Tomorrow is Groundhog Day. Let us all pray that it does NOT see its shadow. I am really over this cold weather. I would totally be fine with moving to and living in the Caribbean for the rest of my life after this winter we've had.

February 4th is Create a Vacuum Day. We all know that's not happening. The sixth is a very dangerous holiday. It is Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. Don't tempt me now... :D February 7th is SUPER BOWL Sunday!! Woot woot!!! Who do you want? Broncos or Panthers? I am definitely going for the Panthers!

We all know that February 14th is Valentine's Day (yay!). Surprisingly, it is also Ferris Wheel Day. The fifteenth is Singles Awareness Day. Nice placement. I guess we all become more aware of our singleness when our friends brag about their fabulous day before. Always remember that being single is a choice and an art form. And now we have a movie (How to Be Single- out this month) to prove that.

The nineteenth is National Chocolate Mint Day (more ice cream!!). February 24th is National Tortilla Chip Day. In my opinion, it should also be National Salsa Day because you can't have one without the other. I'm not allowed to make those types of decisions though.

February 28th is OSCAR Night!!!!! I am beyond excited! We all need to channel all of our good vibes towards Leo winning. He must win. He must must win. I have a feeling he is going to though... it is his year!! I just know it!

February 29th is Leap Day! Instead of watching Leap Year for St. Patrick's Day, we actually get to watch Leap Year on Leap Day! How FAB is that?!

There are many more interesting (and weird) holidays that I left out. If you are interested in seeing what are, check them out here

Are there any other interesting holidays in February that are not on Holiday Insights??? Let me know in the comments below!
