Fitness Friday - Week 2

It's Fitness Friday! How did you all do? Did you complete last week's challenge and start a fitness journal?

This week I was extremely busy, but still managed to find time to workout. On Saturday I tried out a new class- Mat Pilates 2. I ended up loving it! The instructor goes in-depth when explaining each exercise. Instead of just doing the exercise, I actually know why I am doing it and how it will help me. I used equipment that I don't have at home, which is a huge plus. The class was extremely different from my Pilates DVD's. I was hoping that would be the case because I did not want to feel like I was doing the exact same workout.

After Mat Pilates 2, I did Zumba! I love how I went from one class straight into another. Pilates warms me up and stretches me out for Zumba. I am definitely going to continue doing both back to back. I did Zumba again Monday night. My instructor switched up the dances, so it was really difficult. I pulled through though!

I tried out another new class yesterday. I did TRX for the first time. I was definitely nervous going into the class because I had never done anything remotely close to it. It was challenging, but a great full body workout. I can tell that I will be considerably stronger and leaner after a month or two of classes. I loved the music and overall atmosphere of the class, as well as the workout so I am going to continue this class. I am so excited that I am finding classes and workouts that I love!

Today I stretched for a while. I am sore from TRX, so I wanted to keep it light. I also did my Caribbean Workout Core Pilates DVD. There are three 22 min. segments, but I just did one. I did the "Core" segment.

Overall, it was a great week of workouts! I want to work up to at least exercising five days a week. For now I'll stick with four days and gradually build upon it.

~Challenge~

This week's challenge is to try something new! Whether it is something you have been wanting to try out for a while, something you've never heard of (but are intrigued about), or something you haven't done in a long time, do it! This will help you figure out what activities/workouts you enjoy and which ones you don't.

If you do try a new workout and fall in love with it, you can incorporate it into your fitness routine! If you don't love it, that is okay! At least you know it is not for you! You can continue to try new things and add them to your fitness routine until you've created a multitude of options for yourself when deciding what workout you want to do.

If you have a gym membership, try out a new class. If you get your workouts from the computer (Pinterest; Youtube), find a new routine. If you live in a sunny climate, go for a hike or a long walk. You can buy a fitness DVD or rent one from your library. You don't know what you like until you try it. You might be pleasantly surprised.

It is always important to switch up your fitness routine and recruit new muscles. You don't want to reach a plateau! Remember, not every workout is for you. You have to get to know your body and find out what activities work for it.

What do you think about this challenge? Will you try it out? Let me know in the comments below!
